Dress Code

Academic Dress Code

School officials will determine what constitutes a dress code violation. Clothing and accessories must be modest and not detract from the instructional program or school safety.

Clothing is not permitted that is lewd in nature, contains offensive statements, is obscene, vulgar, or contains inappropriate images (people who are semi-nude or in provocative poses). Clothing must be in good taste - neat, clean, modest and decent. Violators will be required to call home for a change of clothes, use school-issued clothing or may be sent home to change clothes. Subsequent violations may result in more severe consequences.

Please adhere to the following to avoid dress code violations:

  • shirts and shoes must be worn at all times
  • midriff may not be exposed
  • all shirts must have straps
  • no low-cut or plunging necklines
  • clothing may not expose a student’s undergarments
  • no sleeveless undershirts may be worn
  • tank tops may not have large sleeve openings
  • no oversize clothing, belts that hang, or clothes that sag
  • no initialized belt buckles may be worn
  • no clothing or other items, which can be intimidating to others or that put the wearer in danger
  • no clothing that displays a weapon, alcohol, or drugs
  • no masks or face paint
  • The numbers 13, 48, 52, 69, 187, 420 are not allowed to be worn or written on clothing, hats, folders, or any other items.

*If a student is in violation of dress code, they will be sent to the Discipline Office, given a loaner garment to change into, leave their garment in the office, and pick up their garment at the end of the school day when they return the loaner garment. Failure to follow these rules and procedures will result in discipline measures and/or the student being sent home.

Hats are not permitted that display lewd, obscene, vulgar, or offensive statements or pictures. Hats should be in good taste, neat, clean, modest and decent. Hats may not be customized or identify the wearer as a member of any organization that is not recognized by the school. Hats may not be customized or identify the wearer as living or belonging to a particular part of town.
