Graduation and A-G requirements

The intent of the A-G Subject Requirement is to ensure that students can participate fully in the first-year program at a UC or CSU in a wide variety of fields of study. The requirements are written deliberately for the benefit of all students expecting to enter a UC or CSU , and not for preparation for specific majors. This pattern of study assures university faculty that the student has attained a body of general knowledge that will provide breadth and perspective to new, more advanced study. Fulfillment of the A-G pattern also demonstrates that the student has attained essential critical thinking and study skills. It is important to remember that the requirements listed are the minimum needed for eligibility. All A - G requirements must be completed with a grade of C or better to qualify for UC or CSU admission.

Course remediation may be completed during the school day if students' schedules permit. Summer school may be an option depending on availability. If not, outside coursework at parents' expense may be an option. There are specific criteria for such programs. Full information and the required application are available through your student's counselor.
